Artist Biography
Victoria Monaco (ViVi Bunnii) is an Italian-Canadian artist, musician, and poet living and working in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Victoria Monaco's works focus on expression, experimentation, eroticism, the philosophical and the psychological exploration of intense emotions, and what it means to be a human being.
Artist Statement
I am fascinated with what terrifies me. I want to challenge and explore fear in all of it's facets and how it affects human behaviour. I am afraid because I am fragile; the fragility of human beings is exquisitely beautiful because we are delicate. In mind, body, and soul we so easily fall into pieces. The ways in which we break makes us all disfigured, deformed, and grotesque in some way and that is horrifying to me, especially since to function in society we must all wear masks to hide our own hideousness. How we express our true selves then becomes erotic, sometimes it's a song, sometimes it's an animation, sometimes it's an illustration, sometimes it's something else (anything else), and sometimes it needs a sense of humour.
